  • LAMECO Tribute - Los Angeles, CA

This past weekend was phenomenal! It was literally a once in a lifetime event in the fact that it had been nearly 10 years since many of the LAMECO S.O.G. (Silute Original Group) guys in attendance had last seen one another. As for the non-SOG in attendance, the event was a special treat. Everyone in attendance checked their egos at the door and it was as if it was one huge gathering of family and friends.

When we weren't training, we were conversing... everyone either catching up or getting to know one another. As for the training, it was excellent! Each session (by a different SOG member) was informative on its own. However, the sessions tied nicely together; as if everyone got together to decide what they would presented upon. I found out later that it was done completely freeform and just adds to the phenomenon that was Edgar Silute; his students knowledge of the art is so strong that their transitioning that knowledge flowed perfectly to those in attendance.

I'd like to publically thank all of the SOG guys for attending, those that instructed and, most especially, Roger Agbulos for coordinating the event. I, for one, can't wait for this event to take place next year!

  • Trapping 101

The Trapping 101 article has been updated to include a few photos and a short video clip.
  • Inside Martial Arts Interviews Larry Hartsell

"Larry Hartsell studied with martial arts icons such as Bruce Lee, Dan Inosanto and Ed Parker.  He went on to become the founder of the Jeet Kune Do Grappling Association and has become a legend in his own right.  We got a chance to speak with Sifu Larry at one of his seminars in Waterbury, CT." -- Inside Martial Arts

You can go here to view the full video and feel free to discuss in our forums.

  • Don't miss your chance to train with the legendary Larry Harsell!

First off, if you don't know who Larry Hartsell is... please take the time to follow the links containing his name on this website.  Don't want to take our word for it, do a search on the internet. ;-)  And for those who've been following the UFC and PrideFC events, have you heard the name Erik Paulson mentioned?  I remember the latest PrideFC refering to Erik as the "human submission machine".  Why is this relevant?  You know what?  Well, where do you think Erik Paulson got what he knows?  Do I even have to answer?

So time is running out (or rather, it has run out) on the early registration for the Larry Hartsell seminar happening in Fort Worth, TX this coming October 14th and 15th.  However, we are happy to announce that we have extending the early registration until the end of September and, since several people have asked, we are also offering the following discounts.

    1) Show up and bring one friend, you get 10% off.
    2) Show up and bring two friends, you get 50% off.
    3) Show up and bring three friends, you get 100% off -- yes, as in FREE.

Your friends (of course) will still have to pay the regular price. ;-)

Don't miss your chance to train with a legend!

  • Please forgive the interuptions...

We've been holding off on a couple of things until we could migrate to a new server and that time has finally come.  Once the migration is completed, everything will be back into full swing and you can expect to see a lot more coming in the near future.

So, as stated, we are actively are in the process of migrating this site to a new server.  Everything appears to be moved over and working as expected.  We are waiting on the email system to migrate, so until then, email notifications (and new account creation) will not be 100% functional.  I'll update everyone when everything is moved over.

Also, any activity that you've done in the past 24-36, please double check in another 24-36 hours that what you've done still exists. Essentially, if you can see this message and you see whatever activity you've done, then your good to go.  If you've done it before you could see this message, then it was probably on the old server and you'll need to repeat what you've done.

  • Workshop DVD(s) Status

Tim and I are supposed to be going over to Dogpack Productions this weekend to evaluate the overall editing of the material and as soon as we have any further information, you'll be notified here.
  • New Features: Point System & Tagging

You can now earn points for forum posting, rating articles and generally any other activity on the site.  As for what these points will be used for, you'll have to stay tuned...  For now, you can just think of them as an overall rating of how active you are on the website and those with the highest can lay claim to some serious bragging rights!

Now on to the tagging feature.  Essentially tagging is the ability to specify various keywords and attach them to individual content.  This is sort of like placing items within categories, but a bit more dynamic.  What is great about this is that the more tags that are created and shared among various content, the better content will be linked together.  These tags are also placed in a tag "cloud" and you can browse the content using this cloud.  The bigger the tag, the more content there is regarding that tag.  We've already gone through and tagged most of the existing content, so give it a try and let us know what you think!

  • New Features

We've added a "Books" section.  This section will grow over time to include summaries and reviews of books regarding JKD, FMA and other related material.  If you are a registered member, you are able leave comments regarding each book so that others can benefit from your oppinion.

Also for registered members, you can now chat with other registered members in real-time.  Once you create a site account, the "Chat" navigation option will become available.  Right now there is a single chat room, we may increase this in the future; so be sure to let us know how it's working out.

Want to know if anyone is in the chat room?  At the lower portion of most sections of the site you'll find that it shows who is online.  If you move your mouse over the registered users names, it will tell you where they currently are.  If it says Chat... now you know. ;-)
