     Hi guys/ and ladies.

My name is Brandon and I attend CKI JKD School ran by Master Ed Goco Galang. He's is currently looking for new students from beginners to advanced. Please come down and check the class out. If you already have place of training come down anyways and train with us we can share what knowledge we know with each other.

Re: Las Vegas, NV JKD School

    Greetings JKDBrando,

Thanks you for becoming a member of our forums and welcome to jkdkali. I hope that you will become an active member of this site and continue to post in our forums.

With that being said I have to take issue on a couple of things that I read in the flyer that you posted. No offense intended but I need to point this out and clarify it for those that do not know. The flyer you posted states that Master Galang has trained with "Jesse Glover, Ted Lacay and Gary Dill who were all head instructors in Bruce Lee's school." That statement is not in anyway true.

Jesse Glover was Burce's first student but was not head instructor at any of the three schools for Bruce. there were only three people that Bruce had teaching at his schools and those three people were James Lee, Taky Kimura and Dan Inosanto. Thats it.

The late Ted Lucaylucay (not Ted Lacay) never trained with Bruce as Bruce died before Ted had a chance to train with him. Ted Lucaylucay and Jerry Poteet were the first two people to be certified by Dan Inosanto in his "Backyard Group." I know this because my first JKD instructor Sifu Mike Keller is an instructor under Ted Lucaylucay and I had the honor of training with Guro Ted before he passed away and asked him if he ever trained with Bruce.

Gary Dill was never an instructor udner Bruce Lee. Gary trained with the late James Lee for either 6 months or 1. The length of time depends on who you believe. James Lee's own son has gone on record to say that he does not remeber ever seeing Gary Dill train with his dad. However, Gary Dill has a letter from James Lee stating that he is authorized to teach only what he has learned in the time he spent training with James Lee.

Like I said no offense and I am not trying to put your instructor down but the JKDKALI Association feels very strongly about letting every one know the facts when it comes to something like this. We are not the end all be all in JKD but when we see something that is not correct we try to make sure people understand the truth.

Thanks and I hope this does not cause you to stop posting.

    Tim,

Thanks for the welcome and I will become a regular and speak on what I can.

On my behalf I can nethier confirm or deny your statements or my instructors. I do know what I am told and tend to be a 'believer" or give credit as word is bond and variations of what happened then can only be told by who was there. I can tell you Master Ed is a Excellent Martial Artist and Instructor who really knows what he is talking about. He has never presented an over the top ego and been humble in situations where others may break.

    Train Hard, Win Harder.

Re: Las Vegas, NV JKD School

Thats why I said no offense at the start of my post and did not say anything negative about Master Ed. I do not know him and have never heard of him there for I can not say anything about him. I am sure he is a great martial artist and teacher, with that much experience and training there is no reason why he should not be. If he has that many schools and that many students then he is doing something right.

However, I did know Ted Lucaylucay and was blessed to be able to spend some personal time with him before he passed away. I was able to talk to him about a lot of different things in regards to his training. You can go to the articles page on this site and read his last interview and he states in that interview that he and Sifu Poteet were the first two students certified by Guro Dan.

It is really easy to search the background of Gary Dill and find out his training if you are really interested in finding out his JKD experience.

But these are all arguing points that can take away from good conversation and that is not what I want.

    Peace,

    Tim McFatridge

P.S. My original post was in no way an attack on you or your instructor just an attempt by me to point out the truth on a few things.

    Tim,

No offense was taken, and I know your will only has the best intentions. I will read the Articles on the late Tim Lucaylucay for self knowledge.

Re: Las Vegas, NV JKD School

I'm happy to find this forum and be able to learn more about the JKD family so we can learn and be familiar with each other, cause I'm also not familiar and never heard

of most people posting here  and their organization . However I have heard of Mr Ed Galang who use to be an MMA champion when he used to fight in Japan during the 70's I'm happy to know he is still active in MMA as a instructor in Nevada . Master Ed Galang is the cousin of Master Rey Galang the founder of Bakbakan group international and is known for being master of the blade . I will check on his website and also am interested in all upcoming tournaments in JKD and Escrima.

    Thank You

Re: Las Vegas, NV JKD School

Greetings Jun Fan and thank you for taking the time to post in our forums. I hope you will become a regular visitor on this site and in the forums. I would be nice to have some new people posting. I have been very busy here latley with a lot of personal stuff and have not had the time to post anything new. I will make it a point to start posting more information on the forums for you and everyone else. What part of the country are you in? There is a Dog Brother gathering coming up really soon as well as a Stickfighting Tournament coming up in Los Angeles in the next couple of weeks. The stickfighting tournament is being held at Disney World (or which ever one is in California). I will get the exact dates and all the info I can from one of my LAMECO instructors and post it on here.

Thank you also for your comments on Ed Galang and pointing out that he is cousin to Master Rey Galang. Who by the way has some very good books which contain a lot of good information for anyone interested in some good reading. Masters of the Blade is a very good book and has some really good material within its covers. There is a long list of FMA masters and instructors in the book that give their personal insight to training and actual combat.

Thanks again and I look forward to seeing more post from you,

Re: Las Vegas, NV JKD School

    Thanks Tim,

I was able to locate Ed Galangs Dojo and my 13 year old son Richard has started training with Master ED . I'm glad that the classes are not crowded and Master ED

Galang himself teaches 3 times a week, Its quite a large school with a boxing ring , the usual heavy bags but what amaze me is the school has five wooden dummies (Muk Jung ?) and seems like my son Richard enjoys it because he loves to spar and has already taken up Karate and Judo so this is all new to him. Its a MMA system which includes Kali , JKD , Dumog and Kick-Boxing , The school is located at Henderson , Nevada and from what I hear they don't advertise so I'm very fortunate to get some information from this JKD Kali site . By all means please kindly inform as on upcoming Kali Escrima tournaments or seminars also any MMA

tournaments at the west coast that we can participate thank you, and we will keep posting

    Richard and Edu
