Robert, I think that is true most arts. Before I started my Jun Fan/ JKD/ FMA training I had trained in Tae Kwon Do, American Karate, and Boxing. I liked Boxing the best but I was still missing something. When I first started training in Jun Fan/FMA and saw the foot work they used and how they moved through the ranges I fell in love with the art. Now I really like Silat but I am not a "Silat guy", by that I mean I do not train primarily in Silat. Although I would like to get more training in that area. I do teach the Silat that I know and give credit as to where I got it from and I am always quick to point out that the material I am showing is Silat. I think Silat has some really really good ground fighting techniques that everyone could benefit from. I also like the stand up fight of Silat and how they tie up the arms and the brutal throws they have. Its all great stuff.
