    2006 JKDKA Training Camp

Hey guys...just wanted to jump in here and give a big thank you to all of those that showed up and trained with us and helped make our first training camp a success. Craig "Bubba" Norton showed some really good stuff from Silat as well as making sure we all knew how to apply it on the street.  A big thanks to him for making the trip up from Austin. Also LaDell Elliott gave us some really good material from Jun Fan Gung Fu and JunFan Kickboxing again he did a great job of showing and teaching everyone the right way to use the material. He and Bubba will most definately be back next year for our second training camp if there shcedule will allow it. We are working on the DVD's now and will let everyone know when they are finished and ready for shipping.

Again thanks to everyone for making this a success.

    Tim and Cory,

I just want to thank you guys for a wonderful training. It was hard to believe that this was the first time you all put one on. The scope of the material we covered was complete and covered all ranges of fighting including weapons. The level of expertise among the instructors, and their teaching ability was impressive. I really appreciated the patience and professionalism Sifu Elliot and Guro Norton exhibited. It was also great to meet some other people who are part of our JKD-Kali universe. I cannot wait till the next seminar.Hopefully more students of all levels and other arts will take advantage of it. I really recommend to all martial artists to purchase a copy of the DVD. It will serve to introduce those not familiar with JKD a chance to see the scope of our system and the many styles that contribute to it. For JKD students it will help to refresh and put a new perspective on techniques you thought you were familiar with. As far as suggestions for next year here are some ideas:

Maybe a Savate instructor. I have always been intersted in learning more about that system.

Paul Marrero to teach Russian Systema

Kevin Capps to show us some of the material he has been studying lately.

And for the old timers, maybe Mike Kellor would like to come down.

Looking forward to Larry Hartsell this fall.
