  • LAMECO Tribute - Favorite Moments

OK guys, I'm going to open this thread so we can discuss and share what we found most memorable from the LAMECO Tribute (April 7/8th, 2007).  There is so much to share, so I'm not really sure where to begin.  Hmmm.... As I said, there's so much to begin with, so I'll start it off with some of the counters that Felix V. ...

  • Re: Locking with the stick

While training with Sifu Hartsell in Austin a few weeks we went over 14 locks from his stick lock flow. They were awesome locks and everyone there loved them. The cool thing about training with Sifu Hartsell is he does not like to show locks to people without giving them the counters as well. This makes for some very good training. We also covered ...

  • Re: 2006 JKDKA Training Camp

Tim and Cory,   I just want to thank you guys for a wonderful training. It was hard to believe that this was the first time you all put one on. The scope of the material we covered was complete and covered all ranges of fighting including weapons. The level of expertise among the instructors, and their teaching ability was impressive. I ...

  • 2006 JKDKA Training Camp

Hey guys...just wanted to jump in here and give a big thank you to all of those that showed up and trained with us and helped make our first training camp a success. Craig ''Bubba'' Norton showed some really good stuff from Silat as well as making sure we all knew how to apply it on the street.  A big thanks to him for making the trip up from ...

  • Locking with the stick

Does anyone train lockflows with the stick? Do you practice grappling with the stick? Do you practice your throws and takedowns with the stick? Just curious. We use the stick just like an extension of our arm. When we are training our stick work and we move into close quarters we will use the stick to lock the guy up and take him down or use it as ...

  • Grappling with Reality: Is your ground fighting for real or for the ring?

In today’s world of mixed martial arts most martial arts practitioners have either trained in or have looked into the grappling arts to some extent. With that being said, most of the practitioners of the grappling arts do not train their grappling from the street fighters view point. By this I mean that most of the grappling they do is ...

  • Re: Trapping while Grappling

Ok, sorry guys we kinda got of track a little from the topic. My fault. Anyway, lets talk about using your trapping while you are on the ground. Lets take the guard position: if you are on your back and have someone in your guard you can still trap the person to set up your technique/submission. You can also still do your hubid stuff...and don't ...

  • Cipecut Silat Sarong

Cipecut Silat Sarong: The Whip of Mande Muda By Mike Young   The exotic system of cipecut silat is rarely found outside of its Indonesia birthplace. Developed in the early 1970s in the Cikalong village, the techniques of this art were refined to an exact science throughout the years. Originally, Cipecut silat sarong was confined to ...
